Quality Assurance Tester
The candidate has the responsibility for testing applications using functional and automated processes. The candidate must have good communication skills as they will be working with developers to formulate test plans and test cases. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the test plans and manual cases on an ongoing basis. The candidate must be capable of transforming manual test cases into functional test scripts using existing software tools such as QuickTest or Microsoft Team test.
The candidate must be well versed in Software QA concepts, practices and tools and will rely on their extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The candidate must be capable of presenting regular progress reports, defect reports and test execution reports.
The candidate will be responsible for identifying and documenting testing requirements, developing time & resource estimates, designing and developing both automated and manual test cases & scripts while adhering to departmental QA policies and procedures. The candidate will act as a liaison between the QA test and application development teams throughout a projects life cycle.
Duties include:
- Perform functional testing of the product, reporting and documenting defects in a bug tracking application, with testing to follow-up in ensuring that the bugs have been fixed.
- Develop test plans (functional and performance), test cases, and test scripts based on a thorough understanding of the processes used to meet our client’s test objectives
- Create automated regression test scripts
- Ability to construct and manage project documentation such as test plans, work plans, project plans, and results documents.
- Ability to work both in a team and independently in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
- Experience in developing and implementing QA technical infrastructure (version control, testing re-use etc.)
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities is essential.
- Participate in test design and review meetings with client and company personnel.
- Must be able to provide short, concise and accurate summaries to management.
Skills/ Qualifications Required:
- Hands-on working experience with functional and load testing tools is required. Experience with products such as Microsoft Team Test, QuickTest Pro, LoadRunner, SilkPerformer, or SilkTest is preferred.
- Experience with using defect tracking tools is required. Experience with implementing or administering the tools is preferred.
- Experience on quality assurance methodologies and best practices. This includes metrics, procedures and processes.
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
- Bachelors Degree with strong Engineering or Computer Science background. CS Majors preferred.
Pluses:
- SQL experience is desired.
- Some programming experience in dynamic languages.
